What is a Keypoints Template and how is it useful?

Adding a template acts as a guideline for annotators that they can look at to get a better understanding of the labeling requirements. You can define the no. of points (nodes), how those points connect (segments) and even name them if needed. The annotators can easily refer to the template with a single click while they are annotating the dataset. The template will not only guide the annotators on the labeling requirements but also enforce them. This is particularly handy with KeyPoints as we need to ensure that the same no. of points are marked per annotation. KeyPoints templates are currently in beta.

How do I add one?

Templates are linked to a category, so you need to add a category before you can add a template. Please follow the below steps to add a Keypoints template:

  1. Navigate to the categories page and add a category with category type Keypoints

  1. Edit the category you just added and click on add template

  1. Drag an image and drop in the box shown on screen

  1. You can now continue with adding the nodes and segments per your requirement

  1. Click on the submit button when you are done and your template is ready

How to use the template?

Once a template has been created, it can be easily added to a dataset while creating it. Please see the below example to understand
